Vegan fashion: Hierbij staat het welzijn van dieren voorop en er zit niets dierlijks verwerkt in het product. Dit is echter niet altijd de duurzaamste optie; synthetische vervangers worden vaak chemisch bewerkt. Heeft het merk maar 1 duurzame lijn? of staan er nog plannen om uit te breiden? Duurzame merken hebben een missie en communiceren dit. Hun DNA is eerlijk, open en transparant. Check waslabel: materiaal, hoe het gewassen moet worden, certificaat van duurzaamheid. Research: de app “good on you” bekijkt hoe groen merken werkelijk zijn. Het was daarom ook niet vreemd dat ik uiteindelijk de modewereld in rolde. Na mijn studie aan het Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) heb ik diverse banen gehad in de mode-industrie; van modeontwerp, visual merchandise, personal shopping tot styling. Zo heb ik een duidelijke kijk gekregen op de retail-wereld. Ik heb het gehele proces van A tot Z meegemaakt en mijn interesse blijft vooral hangen bij het uiteindelijk product omzetten naar iets persoonlijks; stijl. Als personal styliste bij Zalon heb ik duizenden klanten geholpen met het ontwikkelen van een eigen stijl. Zonder een persoon is kleding niets, het gaat erom hoe en door wie het gedragen wordt. Daarnaast heb ik de achterkant van de retail-wereld grondig kunnen bekijken. Het gehele productieproces, de werkomstandigheden, alle psychologische marketingtrucjes en dan hebben we nog de overschotten. Het voelde niet langer goed. Deze frustratie wil ik omzetten om energie uit te putten om het anders te doen. Ik word blij van vrijheid, voor mezelf, maar ook voor jou om los te breken van het trend systeem.
